Excessive sweating can be an annoying and embarrassing problem. However, there are treatments which can help decrease or stop excessive sweating. Your condition will be assessed at your first visit to exclude any underlying medical problems. Several treatments are available including botulinum toxin injections for underarm sweating.

Anti sweating injections is a highly effective treatment for underarm sweating. Patients with excess underarm sweating who have failed treatment antiperspirants such as Drichlor are entitled to a medicare rebate for botulinum toxin injections. Everyone sweats when it’s hot outside, but people who have hyperhidrosis experience excessive sweating to the point that moisture may literally drip from their hands. Hyperhidrosis reason them to sweat profusely even without cause.

Normally, your sweat glands create perspiration that’s carried to the skin’s surface when the air temperature rises, you develop a fever, you’re exercising, or you’re feeling anxious, nervous, or under stress. When those factors are no longer an issue, the nerves that signal sweating are put on hold.

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

  • Primary hyperhidrosis (also called focal hyperhidrosis) reason excessive sweating in the hands, underarms, face, and feet without any apparent reason.
  • Secondary hyperhidrosis (also called generalized hyperhidrosis) reason excessive sweating all over the body or in a larger area of the body and can be caused by excessive heat as well as a medical situation or medication.


Signs and symptoms of hyperhidrosis may include:

  • Irritating and painful skin problems, such as fungal or bacterial infections
  • Worrying about having stained clothing
  • Reluctant to make physical contact
  • Self-conscious
  • Socially withdrawn, sometimes leading to depression
  • Clammy or wet palms of the hands
  • Clammy or wet soles of the feet
  • Frequent sweating
  • Noticeable sweating that soaks through clothing
